- Use a programmable thermostat
- Do your laundry after 7 pm or on weekends
- Adjust your air conditioner by a degree or two during peak hours, e.g. from 23° to 25° C
- Run your dishwasher after 7 pm or on weekends
- Plug TVs, computers and other electronics into power bars with timers that shut them off automatically
- Use fans instead of air conditioners
- Use shades, awnings or sunscreens on windows to block out extra heat from the sun
- Open windows in the morning to let the cool air in and close them during the day. Your building will retain much of the cool air.
